Con el desarrollo de la sociedad capitalista, los procesos de mercantilización de la vida social fueron aumentando. Colombia, hombres y mujeres, jóvenes, ancianos y niños, se vieron envueltos en una avalancha de publicidad que los sometió a la compra y consumo de artefactos, productos o estilos de vida ajenos a las costumbres y tradiciones heredadas siglos atrás. En Bogotá, la prensa se especializó en hacer crónicas relacionadas con las mujeres, ofreciéndoles toda clase de productos a través de las páginas femeninas y de la publicidad. No se trataba de presentar y reconocer a la mujer como tal, sino de convertirla en objeto de los procesos de mercantilización que han caracterizado al capitalismo. Este proceso comenzó a ser evidente a principios del siglo XX. Este documento representa una aproximación a tal análisis.How to Cite
