Los monstruos son las invenciones con las cuales una sociedad mimetiza la relación que sostiene con unos deseos que no concitan en ella la reciprocidad sino la rivalidad, que no atraen por amor sino por odio, que no procuran la paz sino que exacerban la violencia. Entonces, los monstruos sociales son la manifestación encarnada de los deseos que tiene vedados para sí una sociedad determinada, que se presentan como enemigos peligrosos en tanto ellos no son otra cosa que la propia sociedad duplicada en el desafuero: los monstruos sociales no son opacidades de una realidad extraña que amenazan la estabilidad natural de la sociedad, sino presencias contundentes de las múltiples extrañezas que guarda para sí una sociedad expuesta permanentemente a la contradicción.How to Cite
