Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Redes de Ingeniería journal is an institutional and electronic publication of the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, aimed at the scientific community, academics and society in general interested in disseminating the results of their research work. Regional, national and international.

The lines of interest of the journal are framed in the areas of Electronics, Telecommunications, Systems, Bioengineering, Electrical, Environment, Industrial, Cadastral and Geodesy.

Types of articles admitted

Redes de Ingeniería will evaluate works according to the Publindex Colciencias classification, specifically for the following types:

  • Article of scientific and technological research. Document that presents, in a detailed manner, the original results of completed research projects. The structure generally used contains four important sections: introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.
  • Reflection article. Document that presents results of finished research, from an analytical, interpretative or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.
  • Review article. Document result of a finished research where the results of published or unpublished research are analyzed, systematized and integrated, on a field in science or technology, in order to account for the advances and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references.
  • Short article. Short document that presents preliminary or partial original results of a scientific or technological research, which usually require an early dissemination.
  • Case report. Document that presents the results of a study on a particular situation in order to make known the technical and methodological experiences considered in a specific case. It includes a systematic review of the literature on analogous cases.

Evaluation and acceptance of articles

  1. The editorial committee will evaluate the relevance of the proposals according to the similarity with the publication objectives of the journal. The Style Checker will check the spelling, consistency of writing and writing. Each of them will inform the editorial committee about whether the article is suitable for publication, or if it requires corrections from the point of view of the presentation rules.
  2. If the document is not accepted in the first instance, the author will be informed so that he can dispose of it.
  3. Subsequently, the articles are sent to the selected evaluators and, according to the judgment issued, the writing:
  • It is accepted for publication, if the evaluators establish that the article complies with the required conditions and the authors are informed.
  • It is corrected by the authors, in the case that one of the arbitrators considers that adjustments or modifications should be made. Once done, they are verified by the arbitrators and determine if it is finally publishable.
  • It is rejected, in case some of the evaluators conclude that the manuscript does not comply with the necessary elements to be published and immediately the authors are informed about the final evaluation.
  1. Sent by the authors of the letter of assignment of rights to the editor of the journal.
  2. Publication of the article in the corresponding number of the journal.
  3. Access to the web address of the journal to each author of the published article.


About the articles

  1. The articles for publication must be unpublished and exclusive for the journal; written in Microsoft Word (equal or superior to the 2003 version) and in Spanish or English (prevailing standards and good use of the language used). It is essential that the manuscript be found in the article submission template.
  2. The extension of the articles must be marked between 10 and 18 pages, written in double space, in letter size with Time New Roman font, size 12, with margins 3 cm (upper and lower) and 3 (left and right) ), avoiding the use of footnotes. Depending on the relevance and importance of the subject, the journal reserves the right to accept and publish documents with a greater number of pages.
  3. The articles submitted for evaluation must be composed of at least the following items, strictly respecting their order:
  • Title in Spanish and English.
  • Information of the authors.
  • Abstract in Spanish and English
  • Keywords in Spanish and English.
  • Introduction.
  • Conclusions.
  • Future work (if necessary).
  • Acknowledgments (if necessary).
  • Bibliographic references (books, publications on the Internet, journals, degree theses, etc.) duly cited by numbering within the document: [x].
  1. If the article has a character of scientific and technological research must contain, in addition to the above:
  • Methodology.
  • Results.
  • Financing.

Title: You must clearly identify the topic addressed throughout the development of the document; written in capital letters, centered between the margins, written in bold New Time Roman and font size 12.

Authors: After the title the complete name (s) of the author (s) must be written, accompanied by the electronic mail. At the end of the article, the following biographical information should be included: profession, academic formation, occupation or position, institutional or business affiliation, city and country.

Abstract: It should clearly establish the purpose and scope of the work, highlighting the most relevant results and conclusions. It should not exceed 150 words.

Keywords: Minimum three and maximum six keywords, written in Spanish, written in alphabetical order and be as standard as possible, for this it is suggested to use international databases according to the area of ​​knowledge. For example, in the area of ​​Electricity and Electronics it is suggested to use the UNESCO thesaurus that can be found on the page: http://databases.unesco.org/thessp

Introduction: It should describe the general approach of the work, as well as context, background, state of art of the subject, objectives and possible scope of the work.

Equations: They should appear centered with respect to the main text. The equations must be referenced with consecutive numbers (written in parentheses near the right margin). The equations must be elaborated in an appropriate equation editor.

Tables: Tables should not be inserted as images but in a separate editable file. Each one must be identified with its respective table number and its corresponding legend located at the top.

Figures: All must be sent in JPG or TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, adapted to gray scale. Each one must be identified with the number of the figure and its corresponding legend in the lower part.

Bibliographic references: The bibliography should be numbered ascending, according to its appearance in the text. The citation style of references adopted by Redes de Ingeniería journal is IEEE.

In the case of referencing an article, it must be included in order:

  • Initial name (s) of the first author.
  • Last name (s) of the first author.
  • Initial of the name (s) and last name (s) of the other authors, separated by commas. If there are more than 6 authors, the first three are located and et al is added.
  • Title of the article in quotation marks.
  • Name of the journal in italics.
  • Volume and number or year and number of the journal.
  • Reference pages of the article.
  • Date of publication, month and year.

To reference a book, the following information is included respecting the order:

  • Initial name (s) of the first author.
  • Last name (s) of the first author.
  • Initial of the name (s) and last name (s) of the other authors, separated by commas. If there are more than 6 authors, the first three are located and et al is added.
  • Title of the work in italics.
  • Surname (s) and name of secondary responsible: prologue, translator, etc.
  • Edition number, if different from the first one.
  • Publication place.
  • Name of the Publisher.
  • Year of publication.
  • Number of pages, if applicable.


To reference a web page:

  • Initial name of the page (if you have one).
  • Month and year of web creation.
  • Include the word [online].
  • Date of consultation.

About the authors

  1. It is established that the author of correspondence acts on behalf of the authors of the article and is responsible to guarantee the originality of the work and not to simultaneously submit the document to another publication within a period of 5 months, unless it is rejected in the journal.
  2. The judgments issued by the author or authors of the article are entirely their responsibility. Therefore, neither the policies of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas nor those of the journal are compromised.
  3. The author of correspondence with full power granted by the other authors, gives the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas the pecuniary rights on the article in all languages ​​and in all possible means of disclosure.
  4. The authors are responsible for certifying the copyright, of all the material used in the article.
  5. The Editorial Committee of the journal reserves the rights of printing, total or partial reproduction of the article, as well as accepting or rejecting it. Likewise, it reserves the right to make any editorial changes it deems appropriate; in this case the author will receive written recommendations from the evaluators, if he accepts them, he must deliver the article with the suggested adjustments within the dates set by the journal to guarantee its publication within the programmed number.
  6. Redes de Ingeniería journal will only accept an annual volume of 30% of authors of postulated articles affiliated with the Francisco José de Caldas District University.

Process for sending articles

The process that the authors must follow to submit the article submission to the REDES DE INGENIERÍA journal is described:

Authors must send the following documents to the Editor through the Open Journal System (OJS) platform of the Journal:

  1. Letter of presentation of the article addressed to Redes de Ingeniería journal, including the submission request for evaluation of the article in the journal, title of the manuscript, full names of the authors of the document, originality certification of the submitted article. This cover letter must be signed by all authors, scanned and sent to the email: redesingenieria.ud@correo.udistrital.edu

 

The purpose of the letter is to certify that the article is unpublished and that it is not being submitted to another publication.

  1. Two versions of the article are needed, one of them must be anonymous (the article must be submitted in the application template of the journal.)
  2. The authors will be able to relate in the postulation post of the article two possible evaluators who meet the following conditions:
  • Must have at least a master's degree and academic level equal to or higher than that of the authors
  • Belonging to an institution different from that of the authors
  • Have published research, review or reflection articles in the last three years in scientific journals
